J. Adrienne McAuley


PT, DPT, MEd, OCS, FAAOMPT

Adrienne graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont in 1994. Early in her career, she became interested in the relationship between lumbopelvic & hip disorders and pelvic floor dysfunction and began taking courses through the Section on Women’s Health (SOWH) in 1998. Adrienne is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (2001 and renewed 2011) and completed her certificates in Pilates for Rehabilitation (Polestar®, 2001) and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of the Spine (McKenzie Institute, 2002). Adrienne fulfilled a residency in Manual Therapy through The Manual Therapy Institute in 2005 and went on to achieve Fellowship recognition in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2007 under the mentorship of Dave Ziegler, PT, MS, FAAOMPT.

Passionate about teaching and learning, Adrienne pursued another pathway in her professional development. In 1997, she joined the ranks of adjunct faculty at Marymount University and also had the opportunity to teach with the Janet G. Travell, MD Seminar Seriessm from 2002 – 2004. Adrienne earned a Master of Arts in Education from George Washington University in 2005 and accepted a position as Assistant Professor at Touro College in Manhattan. Adrienne continues her involvement with the SoWH and is currently serving as co-chair of the Guideline Development Group working on a CPG for physical therapy interventions for women with urinary incontinence.

Adrienne has been in Portland, Maine since 2012 and is currently Associate Clinical Professor in Physical Therapy at the University of New England where she has teaching responsibilities in musculoskeletal coursework and is conducting grant-funded research related to pelvic floor musculature and hip function.  Adrienne sees patients one day per week at Focal Point Physical Therapy in Scarborough, Maine.
