Rehab Considerations for Lower Quarter Injuries in Youth Athletes


This call is an intermediate level call intended for PT/OT/PTA/OTA/ATC currently treating patients participating in recreational and organized athletics. This 1-hour presentation will focus on the rehabilitation of the youth athlete following various lower quarter injuries. Injuries in youth sports can have a lasting impact on an athlete’s performance and quality of life. Early recognition and successful management of sports related injuries is critical for getting athletes back on the field quickly and safely. Physical therapists should consider anatomical and hormonal changes, training volume, and sports specializations when treating youth athletes.

After attending this call, the participant will:

  • Recognize anatomical characteristics in youth athletes
  • Identify common lower quarter injuries in youth athletes
  • Apply physical therapy modifications to decrease injury risk in youth athletes
