Evaluation Approach for Pregnancy


This 1 hour webinar will present information regarding anatomical and physiological changes that occur during pregnancy, as well as medical diagnoses and associated restrictions of which rehabilitation clinicians should be aware when evaluating patients who are currently pregnant. Modifications and considerations for patient positioning and objective testing will be discussed. Finally, a brief overview of labor and delivery anatomical changes will be discussed, with emphasis on implications for the rehabilitation professional.

  1.   Evaluation Approach for Pregnancy – By the end of this module, the participant will be able to:
  2.   Demonstrate understanding and appreciation of anatomical/physiological changes during pregnancy.
  3. Demonstrate awareness of common diagnoses during pregnancy and be aware of the associated restrictions (ie placenta previa, pelvic rest, etc.)
  4.   Identify and perform the necessary evaluation assessments for the patient who is pregnant with appropriate modifications in positioning, exercise prescription, and physiological monitoring.
  5. Demonstrate understanding of the stages of labor with basic understanding of the musculoskeletal demands of labor and delivery
